POEM OF THE MONTH

To The Bag Lady

When I leave home each morning

I see you in the park.

If I go out at nightfall,

you're sitting in the dark.

I think of you so often

when I am warm, content.

I cannot help but wonder

just how your day was spent.

Is there a pair of slippers

to warm your feet at night?

Do you own darkened glasses

for when the sun is bright?

Do you keep a favorite locket

with pictures tucked inside

that shows a bridegroom smiling-

were you his blushing bride?

Do you own a lace edged hankie

a friend crocheted for you?

Is there a Bible in your cart

to read when day is through?

Is there a special pillow

on which you rest your head?

Where do you settle down to sleep

when it is time for bed?

I have so many questions

with answers i don't know,

but loving thoughts are with you.

Prayers follow where you go.
